Back On Track Clinic
Visit a haven of well-being
Chiropractor Rose Doherty has been welcomed to the Back on Track Clinic, in Uckfield, where complementary therapies work side by side for the well-being of patients.
The clinic is owned by Charlotte Peatfield, a chiropractor herself, who is currently on maternity leave.
She set out to create a relaxing environment where people can feel safe, forget the worries of the day, come and get better and look after themselves.
Rose, pictured left, shares that desire and is enjoying her new role at Back on Track where she works with other therapists offering massage, acupuncture, nutritional advice and hypnotherapy. There are also many pilates classes for all abilities.
As a chiropractor Rose particularly likes the holistic way she is able to treat people, relieving pain and making a difference to the way they feel simply by using her hands.
She was a nurse for 17 years and re-trained as a chiropractor because she was concerned about the chronic problems suffered by elderly people in hospital.
“They were on multiple drugs and had multiple problems and I wondered whether this was really necessary. I wanted to be more holistic,” she said.
Rose added that in many cases joint pain would build up so slowly that people just accepted it as a sign of ageing when this was not necessarily the case.
Stiffened joints
She manipulates stiffened joints and works on muscles and ligaments to free movement.
“This treatment can help people of all ages, from the very young to elderly people, anyone who has pain in the body. We know immediately whether we are able to help.
“Sometimes we find a condition we are not able to help but then we can refer to another specialist to back to a GP.”
Anna Reynolds, clinic manager at Back on Track, says the focus there is on a complete form of treatment to suit the needs of the individual with patients being referred between therapists so that the patient feels all aspects of their problems are addressed, rather than the treatment being one-dimensional.
“For example, it might be that somebody who has been treated by Rose would benefit from having a massage as well or that she might consider massage of more benefit to them than chiropractic treatment and vice versa,” said Anna.
The shared philosophy at Back on Track is that a health body leads to a healthy mind.
