Uckfield man's invention lights church paths
Lights invented by an Uckfield man have been installed along paths in a Hadlow Down churchyard to guide users on dark nights.
A proto-type of the solar lights was installed along a section of Lime Tree Avenue in Uckfield in 2007 but since then the brightness of the lights has been doubled and the cost halved.
Phil Lancaster, from Sycamore Court, Uckfield, set up his business Nitesafe to research and develop phosphor lighting. His invention uses a similar material to glow-in-the-dark watches and light from them should last a long winter's night.
The lights have been installed at St Mark's Church in Hadlow Down.
