AFC Uckfield seek sponsors, helpers and new players
Sponsors, helpers and new players are all being sought by AFC Uckfield following their promotion to the top flight of Sussex County Football League.
These are exciting times for the club who became division two champions in May. Winning players are pictured below.
Manager Kevin Laundon said they had plans for expansion with the aim of encouraging more people to play and watch football at their ground at The Oaks in Eastbourne Road, Uckfield.
What they really need now is more people to help, including volunteers who might mark out the pitch or make tea for visiting officials. Assistance in a variety of administrative roles is also needed to help share the workload.
AFC Uckfield have two teams themselves, the first team and reserve team, and have now formed links with the Wealden Colts.
The colts have two under 16 sides, one for under 13s and one for under 12s and there are plans to get an under 18 team for this season and make provision for younger ages too.
AFC Uckfield were formed 1988 and originally called Wealden FC but chairman Tom Parker and the committee wanted to bring Uckfield into the title to reflect the name of the town in which the club is based.
Games are on Saturdays with kick off at 3pm. There are normally around 20 home games and 20 away games a season.
If you are interested in getting involved please contact Kevin on 07979 444954 or by email at afcuckfield@hotmail.co.uk.
