Air ambulance lands in Uckfield
An air ambulance was called to Uckfield this afternoon (November 24) at around 4pm.
It was summoned after a patient was reported as having a heart attack.
The helicopter landed in the grounds of the community technology college/leisure centre.
There was no immediate word on the patient's condition.
*The Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance responds rapidly to 999 calls with a Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), serving the people who live, work or travel through the counties of East and West Sussex.
Its highly skilled team of doctors, paramedics and nurses can arrive at the scene of most emergencies anywhere in Sussex within 15 minutes to provide swift medical intervention.
The ambulance relies almost entirely upon the generosity of the public to keep it flying.
Update: The Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance flew to Uckfield from its base at Dunsfold, near Horsham. Sussex Police and a land ambulance also attended. A woman who was in her 60s died at the scene. We understand she was in the leisure centre when taken ill.
