Uckfield Allotment Association is in danger of folding
Uckfield Allotment Association is in danger of folding.
Members have been told more volunteers are needed to come and run the group, which has been in existence for at least 75 years.
An extraordinary general meeting has been called for November 17 with just one item on the agenda: “Can the association continue to exist (and in what manner) or should the association be terminated?”
The meeting will be at the function room of the Alma public house in Framfield Road, on Wednesday, November 17, at 7.30pm.
At least one new officer will need to be appointed in place of the four who have recently retired for the group to continue in existence.
If trading is to continue from the huts, next to the approach road to the hospital, two more volunteers will be needed.
The requirement is for people who are prepared to spend two hours on one Sunday morning, most months of the year.
The group – formally known as Uckfield Allotment Holders and Cottage Gardeners’ Association – is also asking members what sort of activities it should be carrying out.
