Uckfield Lions hunt for a young ambassador

Uckfield and District Lions Club is seeking candidates for a Young Ambassador Award and asking members of the public for nominations.

Candidates must have reached their 15th, but not their 19th, birthday before June 30, 2012, and they should be actively involved in the welfare of the community.

Candidates could be involved in helping young and older people, disabled or able-bodied, who are disadvantaged or they could have been involved in projects in conservation, crime prevention, promoting healthier lifestyles or other initiatives.

The first stage is within the Uckfield area where the winner will be awarded a £100 bursary to be used for their community project. Next the successful candidate will go forward to a district event. The winner there will receive a bursary of £500 for their community project or to help with any training they may need and then go on to take part in a national event.

For more information about the Young Ambassador Award please contact Lion Chris Sherwood on 01825 762839 or at uckrav96@yahoo.com.
