New daytime role for Uckfield shop as Appetite moves in
Pizza Zone at the top of Uckfield High Street has been given a new lease of life during the day.
Pizzas and burgers continue to be sold during the evenings but during the day the shop turns into Appetite where takeaway breakfasts, lunches and snacks are on offer.
The new business has been set up by Barry Ashford and Arthur Mieczkowski who prepare all their food on the premises, including the baking of bread each morning.
They focus on quality and healthy options avoiding processed foods and preservatives. Take a look at their Facebook page to see the variety of food on offer.
Just as their business premises have two roles so too do Barry, who is chef at the Uckfield seafood restaurant Phish, and Arthur, who owns the South Africa UK shop in Church Street.
The two men are supported by their partners and both have young babies who can be seen in our picture.
Barry’s partner is Elizabeth Buckley and their six month old baby is Bunni Buckley Ashford.
Arthur is married to Ruzanne. The couple now have two children, four-year-old Seb and his new brother Christian born on July 13.
Elizabeth told Uckfield News: “We hope that people will call in either before they catch a train in the early morning, on their way to school or at lunchtime to pick up something delicious and homemade.
“The food is ideal for children’s lunchboxes because everything is fresh and there are no preservatives. We are happy to deliver in town too if people would like to order in advance.”
Appetite is open Monday to Friday from 6am to 4pm and on Saturday from 8am to 3pm.
