Armistice Day in Uckfield
A two-minute silence was observed in Uckfield today to mark Armistice Day. The silence began at 11am with the sounding of a maroon.
Traffic halted and afterwards wreaths were laid at the war memorial at Holy Cross Church including one from children of Holy Cross School. The Last Post was played by Mr Ray Martin.
The ceremony was held to commemorate those who died in two world wars and later conflicts. The silence begins every year at the time guns fell silent on the western front at the end of World War 1 in 1918.
Thanks to Ron Hill for the photographs.
