Charges agreed for scattering of ashes at Uckfield cemetery
Charges have been agreed for the scattering of ashes and positioning of memorial plaques at a new Garden of Remembrance at the Snatts Road Cemetery, Uckfield.
The fee for scattering of ashes will be £110. Plaques can be attached to the cloister wall for £135.
Uckfield Town Council says “no other plaque, memorial paraphernalia, plants, trees, flowers (either fresh or artificial)” shall be affixed to the plaques or placed anywhere else in the cemetery.
Rules for use of a new lawn burial area have also been agreed.
Each plot is to be allowed a single headstone or simple wooden cross, in front of which can be a small garden to a maximum of nine inches (23cm) from the front of the monument.
The aim is to ensure a lawn effect is maintained. Only bulbs and small annual bedding plants will be allowed to be planted and shrubs and trees are forbidden.
“No kerbstones, or boundary fence of any description is allowed. Glass containers, items of pottery, tin or plastic are similarly excluded and will be removed.”
