Uckfield Methodists join in with national Bible project
Members of the Uckfield Methodist Church have taken part in a national project to produce a hand-written copy of the King James Bible.
It is 400 years since the Bible was first published and the new version is being produced to commemorate the anniversary.
Special paper was sent to each Methodist Church involved and the finished work will be bound into about 20 volumes.
Uckfield Methodists wrote their verses on Sunday, March 13, and plan to show a copy on their website, frame a copy and display it in their church hall.
Nobody was excused from taking part, computers weren’t allowed and everybody used a black ball point pen.
Monks would have used a quill and ink for the original Bible.
The writing will be a permanent record of the hand writing skills at the beginning of the 21st century.
