Hundreds see Uckfield parade
Hundreds of people lined Uckfield High Street this afternoon for the festival's big parade and many stayed on the Luxford Field enjoying the entertainment until late into the evening.
Students from Uckfield Community College's Spiritus group were joined by children from local primary schools for a procession during the afternoon which had the theme Work, Rest and Play.
All the creations were formed into a tableau on the Luxford Field and as dark fell they were illuminated around a tree dubbed The Uckfield Oak. Spiritus puppets, operated by students, played a starring role in the ceremony.
We have pictures and a video below to give a flavour of the days events. Another video of the parade is on our Facebook page here
Awards for All gave a lottery grant to enable more involvement from community groups and also taking part are the Uckfield Library, U3A, Uckfield Volunteer Bureau, the Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied Club and Wisteria Lodge.
The U3A group created a model of Lord Lucan (below), who was allegedly last seen in Uckfield before disappearing.
