Maresfield man prepares for London to Brighton bike ride

Maresfield man prepares for London to Brighton bike ride

Maresfield man Ben Gillam will be lining up at the start of the London to Brighton bike ride on June 19 to help raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

He has taken part several times before and in preparing for this year’s event is cycling about 30 miles a week and regularly tackling the gruelling Ditchling Beacon climb which is part of the course.

So far he has been promised about £180 in sponsorship through his Virgin money giving page. If you would like to contribute too please follow the link.

Ben (28) lives on the Parklands estate in Maresfield and works as IT manager for local business communications firm IGC Group.

He said: “I started doing the London to Brighton bike ride with my previous employer and it served as a great team building exercise and raised money for a good cause but after a few years we had some holiday clashes and fell out of the habit.

“Fast forward to this year, I decided to try and get fit again and train for the ride once again. I’ve always found it very satisfying to raise money for a good cause and I get a great fun day out to boot doing something I enjoy.”
