Uckfield nightclub applies to extend its licensing hours

The Broadway night club at Uckfield has applied to extend its licensing hours and a meeting of Uckfield Town Council on Monday is due to consider the changes.

Two options are to be considered by the council. One is for licensing hours to run from 23:00 to 02:30 on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 23:00 to 04:30 on Friday and Saturday. The other option would be for the hours licensed to end at 02:00 Sunday to Thursday and at 04:00 on Friday and Saturday.

The Broadway currently advertises, on its Facebook page, being open on Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm until 2am.

A report to the town council says the mayor has received a request for the council to object to the extended hours and to 'take a position on the introduction of exotic dancers'. No further information is included on the agenda.

The council is not a statutory consultee on licences but where objections are raised they are generally considered by the plans committee. In this case the closing date for comments is December 22, 2009, and since the plans committee does not meet again until the new year the full council has been asked to consider the matter.
