Dial-a-ride bus service on trial
Dial-a-ride bus services are being offered in Uckfield for a trial period to take people to Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells.
Down Your Way Funds are paying for the scheme during the pilot which is being run for a year by the North Wealden Community Transport Partnership.
The facility is offered for people with lack of access to formal services and to those with disabilities.
The charge is £4 for a long journey and £1 each way for a short journey. People are able to shop for up to two hours at either Crowborough or Tunbridge Wells and then be picked up and taken home.
Uckfield, Buxted, Hadlow Down and Rotherfield had asked about an extension of the service, Uckfield town councillors were told at a meeting earlier this month.
East Sussex County Councillors Chris Dowling and Paul Sparks said the county was keen to have a scheme of this nature in Uckfield and particularly to bring people into Uckfield.
Minutes of the meeting said whether this could be achieved would need further discussion. The current pilot was just to take people to either Crowborough or Tunbridge Wells.
