Changes to Uckfield bus services
Changes to bus services in Uckfield will come into operation in July.
New timetables are not yet available. Details are being arranged between the county council and the bus operator.
A report to the county’s lead member for transport Cllr Matthew Lock, outlined the plan, which was agreed.
“It is proposed to amalgamate the Uckfield town service 245, services 249/319 (currently primarily serving High Hurstwood and Poundgate/Hadlow Down) and the Uckfield Rover demand responsive service.
“At school peak times the vehicle will undertake transport provision to Grove Park School in Crowborough.
“The detail of the timetable is to be finalised with the successful tenderer, but will retain links along The Drive, to the Manor Park estate, and Uckfield Community Hospital.
“This hospital link may be provided through a connection with service 318 (Uckfield – Framfield – Blackboys – Heathfield) if this is feasible.
“This contract award will realise financial savings compared with the existing provision, whilst maintaining a level of service comparable with existing demand."
Service 246 (Uckfield – Barcombe Mills – Barcombe – Chailey – Sheffield Park – Fletching – Uckfield) is contained in a separate tender.
The new contract will retain this one-day a week facility on a Thursday (currently Fridays). This contract also includes the Lewes Area dial a ride and transport for Grove Park School.
