Uckfield hosts prestigious gathering of business leaders
More than 100 members of Chambers of Commerce from across Sussex gathered in Uckfield on Friday for a conference.
The Meet the Chambers networking event was organised by Uckfield Chamber of Commerce and held at Buxted Park Hotel.
Speakers were Mid Sussex MP the Rt Hon Nicholas Soames and chief executive of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club Martin Perry.
Mr Soames talked about “The Global Challenge Facing Sussex Businesses” and Mr Perry told the story of the football club’s long battle to get the Amex stadium built at Falmer and how “Dreams Do Come True”.
This was the third annual gathering of Sussex chamber members following one in Crawley and another in Eastbourne.
Delegates included representatives from chambers in Battle, Bexhill, Billingshurst, Brighton, Crawley, Crowborough, Eastbourne, Eden Vale (Edenbridge), Hastings, Newhaven and Worthing.
President of Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, Peter Gale, of Swindells accountants and tax specialists, said: “We were delighted to host this prestigious conference and it proved to be a great success. The speakers were excellent and our Uckfield members valued the opportunity to network with other businesses from across Sussex.”
Mr Malcolm Diamond, from Uckfield business TR Fastenings, chaired the meeting and sponsors included Swindells, Rix and Kay, Dawson Hart and Chris Dowling Print and Design.
