Repairs to Uckfield cemetery chapels to cost about £60,000
Repairs and redecoration of cemetery chapels at Snatts Road, Uckfield, look set to cost between £58,000 and £61,000.
Uckfield Town Council has received tenders for the work which include making the buildings watertight.
A report to the general purposes committee which meets on Monday says the breakdown of work based on the lowest tender would be:
- Year 1 £18,825.09
- Year 2 £18,011.85 (includes 4% uplift if completed in 2012)
- Year 3 £24,071.89 (includes 4% uplift on 2012 costs)
The council budgeted £1,500 in 2010/11 for maintenance of the Civic Centre and chapels with a further £2,500 for the future maintenance of the chapels and £5,000 was budgeted in 2011/12.
Councillors are asked to decide whether to delay the work for a further year to enable additional funds to be budgeted in 2012/13 or take the shortfall from reserves to enable the first year’s work to proceed as soon as possible.
