Chiddingly School to get special assistance
East Sussex County Council is providing Chiddingly Primary School with intensive extra support after its latest Ofsted inspection.
The council will assist with the urgent implementation of an improvement plan.
The intervention follows Ofsted’s findings that the school is not providing its pupils with an acceptable standard of education and requires special measures.
Ofsted concluded the school needed to improve pupils’ attainment, progress and attendance, improve the quality of teaching, the curriculum and assessment, and improve the effectiveness of its management and leaders.
Ofsted did recognise some strengths at the school, for example: the enthusiasm of teachers; the care, support and guidance provided to pupils; behaviour; the contribution made by pupils to the school and the wider community; and pupils’ spiritual, moral and social development.
As well as providing the school with intensive support as a matter of priority, the county council has already met with parents to discuss the Ofsted findings and give them more information about how the issues will be addressed.
