Plans for tea room and community shop at Chiddingly

A new tea room/cafe and community shop could open in Chiddingly if plans before Wealden Council are approved.

A storage building at Farley Farm Yard, Muddles Green, could be used for the cafe and shop.

Local produce could be sold there and jobs created according to a planning application.

Chiddingly has been without a village shop since the previous one closed eight years ago.

Documents submitted with the planning application say: “The proposed shop will play an important role in making local produce available to the local community and provide a village shop reducing the need to travel by car to purchase basic goods.

“In addition, the tea room/cafe will benefit the local community by providing a meeting place for local residents as an alternative venue to the village pub which closes mid afternoon during Monday to Thursday.”
