Uckfield's clean-up campaign to be relaunched next month
The Brighter Uckfield Campaign, which aims to keep the town tidy, is due to be relaunched next month.
A special event is to be held at the Civic Centre and part of a display will be a large-scale map of Uckfield which visitors can mark to point out problem areas.
Campaign members are drawing up a new constitution, rules and business plan.
Activities to be included in the business plan are tidying up, dealing with litter, sweeping and weeding, running a garden competition, floral displays, street furniture, state of buildings, graffiti removal, liaising with town bodies with similar interests and encouraging people to take on responsibilities for helping to keep the town looking neat.
The relaunch will take place on Saturday, March 19, from 10am to 1pm.
There will be display boards at the Civic Centre, tea, coffee and biscuits for visitors and the large-scale map.
Notes from a meeting of the campaign’s steering group held last month say that the campaign’s existence after April 2012 could be dependent on a successful grant bid to the town council. This is to be discussed further.
