Steeplejacks hit a problem removing clock faces in Uckfield

Steeplejacks have been forced to stop work removing the four faces and hands of Holy Cross Church clock, Uckfield.

They managed to remove the south clock face but then encountered difficulties and technical problems and called a halt to proceedings.

Scaffolding is to be set up before  the remaining clock faces are removed for renovation.

The work is being undertaken by Wiltshire Steeplejacks of Trowbridge.

Photographer Ron Hill was on hand to record the moment the south clock face was removed. These are his pictures.
