UCTC students in great concert

Uckfield Community Technology College students put on a fantastic concert last night.

Talented musicians were given the chance to showcase their work in an evening stage managed by director of music Rob Wakeling.

He and fellow members of staff scurried around between acts making sure everything was in the right place for an orchestra one minute, soloist the next and then a jazz band.

Thanks to their efforts and encouragement the students were able to shine and every performance was a good one.

Highlights included the Harvey Hall trumpet recital, Laura Critchley flute solos and Olly Muxworthy on the piano.

There were other wonderful solos from Harriet Dabin and Rob Primrose on the piano, Oliver Golding, cello, and from Alex Gill on the guitar.

It was a pleasure to see the musicians working in different combinations, accompanying each other and moving between the chamber ensemble, the orchestra and the jazz band.

And there were great voices too including Poppy Damazer, Carys Coleman and Maddie Broad who held her own as part of the jazz band.

Congratulations UCTC. It was a great night.
