Uckfield consultation deadline looms

Public consultation on the latest stage of ideas of how Uckfield will develop and look in the years to come is drawing to a close.

Views have been sought by Wealden District Council as part of a process which spans its whole area.

Many issues, including housing development, commercial and industrial growth and town centres, are up for debate.

In one of the many documents that make up the development options being considered there is a report detailing a "vision" of how Uckfield town centre should look.

It says it should be a "contemporary market town with an ‘up-market' image known for its successful and varied shopping facilities and commercial opportunities".

There should be a "welcoming environment" with a distinctive identity that acts as a hub for surrounding towns and villages.

The vision also proposes to achieve a successful evening economy for a wide range of users by encouraging up-market restaurants and venues as part of a town square and river frontage development.

All the Wealden council documents are online at http://tinyurl.com/238lqa

The consultation process ends at 5pm on Friday, August 28.
