Map pinpoints every fatal road crash in the Uckfield area

A map pinpointing every fatal road crash in the Uckfield area shows exactly where the blackspots are.

The A26 between Crowborough and Uckfield, the A272 and the A22 all shows clusters of accidents.

The map, part of a survey by the BBC covering the whole country, plots every road collision between 1999 and 2010. In all 36,371 fatalities are marked on the interactive map.

Each location on the map is “clickable” and gives information about the accident at that spot.

Road safety work, such as lower speed limits and improved signs, have been installed on roads where some of the fatal crashes have been.

Read more about the survey and view the map on the BBC website.
