Have your say on fire service merger plan at Maresfield meeting
A public meeting about the proposed merger of East and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Services is to be held at Maresfield next month.
The meeting will be held at the fire and rescue service training centre in Batts Bridge Road, on Monday, September 12, 2011, at 2pm.
Other meetings are to be held at Hove on Tuesday, September 13, and in Eastbourne on Wednesday, September 14.
East Sussex Fire Authority and West Sussex County Council announced a consultation period after a business case concluded "a merger is the best option to protect community fire and rescue services from the expected impacts of government grant reductions over the next few years".
The business case also said a full merger would "imporve operational resilience and overall capacity to the collective benefit of local residents, businesses and visitors alike across the whole of Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove."
A 12-week consultation runs until October 6.
Read more about the proposed merger and find links to more detail on the East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service website.
