Uckfield flats plan approved

Permission has been given for nine flats to be built behind numbers 21-31 Uckfield High Street. They would be accessed from Bell Farm Lane.

The land - behind shops which include Hardware Goods, Cristobel, Corbins, St Wilfrid's Hospice and Vision Express - was described as "having been neglected over many years resulting in overgrown and random planting of trees with no significant value or interest, along boundary lines of individual properties with a series of 'dirt' tracks resulting in haphazard car parking by existing occupiers and transient visitors, encouraging indiscriminate dumping of refuse and recycling waste.

The planning application was approved on October 1, by Wealden Council.
