Fresh plans for land in Newtown

New plans have been submitted to build on land on the corner of High Street and Bridge Farm Road in Newtown, Uckfield.

A previous scheme to build four flats with a commercial unit beneath, on part of the garden of 1 Farriers Way, was withdrawn because of concerns from neighbours and Uckfield Town Council.

The commercial unit has been removed in new scheme, the four flats now have off street parking and the architecture is now 'very traditional' and 'respects the Victorian style of the neighbouring Police Station'.

Documents submitted with the planning application say the levels of the site would be excavated to the existing pavement level at the corner of High Street and Bridge Farm Road. A new retaining structure would be built behind the building.

The building would rise in steps from two storeys, at corner of the High Street and Bridge Farm Road, to three-storeys  further up Bridge Farm Road with the aim of keeping current views from the Police Station.
