Uckfield business makes special structure for Chelsea Flower Show
Uckfield business Design & Display Structures is helping to create a large organically shaped platform as part of a display for this year's Chelsea Flower Show.
The company is working closely with designers Ann-Marie Powell Gardens and Ian Bishop to build the feature for the British Heart Foundation display sponsored by Brewen Dolphin.
The piece will measure 4.2 metres by 3.4 metres and will be manufactured and built using red translucent materials.
The designers plan to illuminate it from within, creating a stunning effect as people walk over the textured slip-resistant surface.
The platform will appear to skim the surface of the water it sits on, a little like a lily pad, thanks to a 200mm rounded edge.
Business owner Allan Curtis, who lives in Hempstead Road, is hoping to send Uckfield News.com pictures of the structure when it is in place.
It is due to be installed early in May and be located under the Heartstring Canopy.
Here's a link to an artist's impression and video of the garden, which includes the red pads made by Design & Display Structures.
