Football club gets lease deadline
Uckfield Town Football Club has been given until April 1 to conclude renewal of their lease of the first floor and bar store at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds pavilion.
If it hasn't been signed by then Uckfield Town Council is saying it will instruct solicitors to terminate the lease.
The council has been trying to proceed with renewal since April 1, 2009, when the lease expired.
Members were told at a meeting of the general purposes committee that the soccer club chairman had emailed the council saying they did intend to proceed with the renewal. It also said a letter had been sent to the council's solicitors.
Councillors "noted that other interest had been shown in using the building should the club wish to relinquish it".
