Uckfield funeral parlour could be demolished
Semi-detached houses could be built on the site of a redundant funeral parlour in New Town, Uckfield.
The building at 11 New Town, which is owned by C.P.J. Field Ltd, has been empty since permission was given to change the use of neighbouring Rose Cottage next to Old Timbers Lane into a funeral home.
A first floor workshop and storage facility at number 11 were also relocated to to the company's other premises in Uckfield at Fuller and Scott's Funeral Home in Civic Approach.
Last year permission was given to change the use of number 11 to a three-bedroom home and for alterations to be carried out there.
Documents with the planning application, which has been submitted to Wealden Council, say: "The residential use of the site would be compaitble with the granted residential use of the building and residential uses immediately to the north and west of the site."
A bungalow adjoins the site on higher ground to the west and a pair of listed cottages to the north on lower ground.
