Uckfield Town Council's spending is under the spotlight
Key decisions are due tonight (November 29) on Uckfield Town Council’s budget for the coming financial year.
The key general purposes committee meeting will be told its planned work for 2011 – 2012 would cost £644,000.
The budgeted expenditure for the present financial year is £608,000, although actual spending is thought will end up at £553,000.
The committee derives income from various sources with the figures showing a projected income of £135,000 for 2011 – 2012.
Major items of proposed spending include:
Office staff salaries: £190,000
Civic centre running costs: £71,000
Civic centre salaries: £67,000
Grants: £34,000
The Hub running costs: £15,000
Members’ allowances: £12,000
Festive lights: £11,000
Economic Development Consultants: £10,000
Newsletter: £8,750
Projected income for the committee includes:
Civic centre: £82,000
The Hub: £15,000
Foresters Hall: £10,000
Football club lease: £6,000
Festive lights income: £2,000
Other committees will need to finalise budgets before the town council agrees the overall budget and precept (the amount from council taxpayers to bridge the gap between spending and income) for 2011 – 2012.
