Eyesore land in Browns Lane, Uckfield, could be green lung
Uckfield Town Council is considering improvements to a small patch of land in Browns Lane, Uckfield.
A report to councillors on Monday described the land as an 'eyesore' and said it would be possible to turn the 'wasted asset' into an attractive green lung.
Chairman of the environment and leisure committee Cllr Alan Whittaker said in his report that the land at the junction with Downsview Crescent received no attention except for mowing and reflected badly on the council.
He recommended planting birch trees and wild flowers and enclosing the plot with a hedge. He suggested refreshing soil in a rockery, laying a pathway and providing two benches.
In the future it might be possible to consider adding play equipment and a concrete tennis or chess table.
Committee members said they would like more information about the overall costs of a scheme and asked for more financial information to be brought to the next meeting.
