Framfield woman to be High Sheriff of East Sussex
Kathy Gore from Framfield is set to take over as High Sheriff of East Sussex.
Mrs Gore was raised in London and started her City career as a junior clerk at the age of 15, concluding it 21 years later as senior vice-president of a US investment bank.
In 1993 she moved to Sussex with husband Jack and Border Terrier Lulu.
She is Chairman of Friends of East Sussex Hospices (FESH) which raises funds and awareness for the nine hospices which care for the people of East Sussex, Brighton and Hove. To date the charity has distributed more than £720,000 to these hospices.
She is pictured above with celebrity chef Marco Pierre White who helped FESH launch a fund-raising campaign at his Maresfield restaurant.
Mrs Gore is also a Trustee of the Sussex Community Foundation whose aim is to connect local donors with the local Sussex voluntary groups that make a real difference on the ground. These groups are often passed over by donors in favour of larger national charities.
For ten years prior to August 2010 Kathy was a Trustee of The Martlets Hospice in Hove and she also served for three years as a Trustee of The Sussex Beacon, the AIDS/HIV facility in Brighton.
She was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of East Sussex in February 2006.
In 2005 and 2007 she completed the London marathon and intends to complete the Brighton Marathon on April 10, raising money for FESH.
Her interests and hobbies also include painting, gardening, reading, bridge, theatre and music.
She will take over from Deborah Bedford, of Ringmer.
