Uckfield High Street is due to be resurfaced in April.
A one-way system down the High Street is planned with north bound traffic being diverted around the by-pass while the work is done.
Closure of the junction with Civic Approach is also proposed with access to the Luxford car park from the northern entrance at Library Way.
The work is due to take place between Bell Lane and Library Way. Traffic lights would be specially phased at the Bell Lane junction.
The work is expected to take place from Monday, April 12, to Thursday, April 16 between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm. The date has been brought forward by a week to ease traffic during the school holiday period.
