Uckfield hero's dad accepts cheque for memorial fund

Father of Uckfield hero Dan Gamble, who died while serving in Afghanistan, was presented with a cheque by fund-raisers from the Highlands Inn, last week.

The money was raised during a weekend of events at the pub which included a fun day, a disco with a fancy dress military theme and a raffle and auction.

Mr Paul Gamble accepted the cheque for £443 on behalf of the Daniel Gamble Memorial Fund.

Another cheque for £3,000 was presented to Petty Officer Roy Pavett of the Royal Navy for Help for Heroes.

Pub manager Stuart Manchester said: "My team worked tirelessly to put this event together donating their time and energy to help the event run incredibly well whilst raising a fantastic amount for such worthwhile causes. I would like to thank everyone who donated prizes and supported this event with their time, effort and contributions."

Pub owners Emma and Mark Flaherty congratulated Stuart and his team and said they were very pleased to support Help the Heroes and the Daniel Gamble Memorial Fund.

A further cheque for £600 was presented to the Daniel Gamble Memorial Fund by Graham Pope of GP Music Promotions following sales of the Uckfield's Got Talent CD, dedicated to the memory of Daniel Gamble, which features young local singers and musicians who came together last year to perform in front of a live audience.

Two of the singers, Andy Brown and Bethany Ellwood, were at the presentation and can be seen holding a cheque on the left of our photograph below, which was taken by Ron Hill.

Also in the picture are Stuart Manchester and staff members Jack Walker and Jonny Barton with Paul Gamble and Petty Officer Roy Pavett. Stuart's children Aurora and Flynn are holding the cheques.
