Owner of Chilli Peppers to take over Hop Barn in Uckfield

Taurie Linstead owner of Chilli Peppers cafe bistro is taking over The Hop Barn in Uckfield.

Chilli Peppers, which is set back from the High Street in the parade of shops between Uckfield Electrics and the Post Office, will close and The Hop Barn will be renamed Chilli Peppers at The Hop Barn.

Taurie told Uckfield News.com yesterday: “Certainly in the short term nothing will change at The Hop Barn. We are retaining the current cook and everything on the menu will stay on the menu.

“I am ecstatic about this, really happy. I want to develop The Hop Barn, add to what is already there, and plan to extend the opening hours.” Currently The Hop Barn closes at 4pm.

Taurie, who hopes the legal process surrounding the change of ownership will be completed by May, is planning to continue having music evenings on Saturdays and will still organise lunches for senior citizens.

She is also planning to introduce Sunday carverys.

She hopes groups of people will be interested in holding meetings at The Hop Barn or having business lunches. She also hopes to offer free wifi.

Taurie has continued her role as a management consultant while running Chilli Peppers but plans to work full time at The Hop Barn from July.

Her son Matthew Atterbury who brings with him experience from working for Wetherspoons will be deputy manager there.

“I live in Nutley and Matthew lives in Maresfield and we are very much running a local restaurant for local people,” said Taurie.
