Isfield major housing development set to be approved
Plans for nearly 40 new homes at Isfield Camp are being recommended for approval by councillors this week.
The application by Millwood Designer Homes for land between Uckfield and Lewes is to redevelop the site and build 33 new homes, plus six “live/work” units.
Wealden district councillors are recommended to approve the application, subject to conditions, at a meeting of the northern area planning committee on Thursday.
One of the recommended conditions is that the development should contain nine affordable homes. The developer will also need to make a financial contribution towards secondary education, household waste and recycling and rights of way.
No demolition or building work can start until archaeological work has been completed.
Isfield Camp has seen a number of housing applications in recent years.
The current application, says a report to councillors, has been submitted to “address issues of viability and justify the reduced provision of affordable housing”.
