Five companies shortlisted to run Uckfield leisure centre

Five companies are competing to manage and operate Uckfield, Crowborough, Heathfield and Hailsham leisure centres for ten years from April 1, 2012.
Twelve organisations expressed interest in the contract at a bidders' open day held in December 2010.
Five were shortlisted and Wealden Council has drafted contract documents for them.
Next there will be meetings with each company before they make submissions in June.
Final tenders are to be submitted in mid-October 2011 with the final contract being awarded in December 2011.
The contract is currently held by Freedom Leisure.
