Uckfield Leos receive official charter
An official Leos Charter was presented yesterday to members of a club set up at Uckfield Community Technology College.
Uckfield Lions' immediate past president Lynne Ireland handed the document to Leos president Ellie Thackway, pictured above left. Also holding the charter are Lion Chris Sherwood and UCTC principal Hugh Hennebry, right.
Other members of the Leos - the youth section of Lions International - representatives of Uckfield Lions and UCTC staff looked on.
Leos members are a group of Year 12 and 13 students who have a shared interest in helping others in their local and wider communities.
Since forming in February they have been involved in a number of community events with the Lions. They organised a talent night for the Rocking Horse Appeal and held collections and sweet sales for the Japan earthquake victims.
