Two 16-year-old boys from Uckfield were arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault shortly after an attack on a group of students in Lewes at the weekend.
Police say a group of nine Chinese students, all aged between 16 and 17, were walking along Offham Road, Lewes, shortly before midnight on Saturday, November 12, when they were chased by a group of five youths from White Hill, near the Elephant and Castle pub, into Prince Edwards Road, then along Park Road, The Avenue, Bradford Road and into De Montford Road.
The youths, all described as being in their mid to late teens, kicked and punched four of the students, all boys, in De Montford Road, causing grazes and cuts, and took a quantity of Hong Kong dollars and £10.
They made off into Abergavenny Road.
Detective Constable Andy Smith said; "This was an very unpleasant and unusual offence for the area. We would like to hear from anyone who was in Lewes town centre late on Saturday night and who might have seen these two groups. Please contact us via 101 quoting serial 0005 of 13/11."
The two 16-year old boys from Uckfield who were arrested were later released on police bail until February 18 next year pending further enquiries.
