Plans for five new homes in Lewes Road, Uckfield, approved

Plans for five new homes to be built on the site of a bungalow in Lewes Road, Uckfield, have been approved by Wealden Council.

A previous proposal, for the site at Oakrise, was for six two-storey homes.

The district council has told Uckfield Town Council that the highway authority has considered the revised proposal and conditions will be imposed to ensure satisfactory access.

Wealden has also said: "Although the proposed development would reduce the spaciousness within the plot compared with the existing development (as the new dwellings would have relatively little open space on their frontages and have higher density) it is not considered that these effects would be significantly harmful to the character of the locality and the site provides for five small open market units instead of a bungalow in a large plot."
