Uckfield Lions work with Waitrose on Christmas fund-raising event
Uckfield Lions Club are working with Waitrose to hold their annual supermarket fund-raising event with raffle ticket sales beginning on December 1.
The Lions were worried that they wouldn't be able to hold the event because of the closure of the Co-op supermarket which had supported it as did Somerfields before them.
But Waitrose has stepped into the breach and promised backing, support and increased value prizes.
This year the prizes will be Waitrose vouchers, which are also redeemable at any John Lewis group shop, worth £200, £100 and £50.
The tickets will be sold for £1 each at Waitrose and at the Lions' bookshop at Bridge Cottage. The draw will take place on Christmas Eve.
The Lions say the draw usually raises more than £1,500 for charity and this year at least 25% of the money has been committed to the Uckfield Housebound Club.
