Plans to realign Lime Tree Avenue have been withdrawn

Plans to realign part of Lime Tree Avenue, Uckfield, and build two new homes in Downsview Crescent have been withdrawn.

An application for two houses next to number 6 Downsview Crescent was withdrawn on July 20.

Among consultation documents, shown on the Wealden Council website, was one from the Highway Authority which said information given in the plan, relating to pedestrian and vehicle access and rights of way, was incorrect and the application was "considered to be invalid from a highway point of view".

It went on to say: "The reason is that Lime Tree Avenue which runs within the red site boundary has highway rights and cannot be obstructed or developed without it being formally stopped up. This is a procedure which can take up to 18 months and be carried out by the Government Office of the North East."

The Highway Authority also said the plan should be refused on grounds of insufficient car parking and lack of cycle parking.

"The existing car parking court to the rear of numbers 4, 5 and 6 Downsview Crescent would be compromised as a result of the development and lead to overspill parking on-street when there should be scope within the site to provide this.

"The proposed arrangement for parking is considered tight for the proposed units as turning manoeuvres would be difficult and subsequently encourage on-street parking."

Uckfield Town Council also objected to the proposal.

See documents relating to the planning application, consultation and withdrawal on the Wealden Council website.
