Chance for Uckfield people to have lung function checked
If you find yourself coughing, wheezing or short of breath when going up Uckfield High Street there will be chance to have your lungs checked out in town on Saturday.
Under the banner of the British Lung Foundation practice nurses from doctors' surgeries around Uckfield are coming together at Tesco to answer questions on a range of respiratory issues. It is the ideal opportunity for a health check if your family has been nagging you about your chest.
The nurses will be there from 9am to 3pm and will be able to assess lung function and offer help with quitting smoking. If they consider further assessment is needed they will refer you to your own GP.
The Smoking Cessation team from East Sussex Downs and Weald Primary Care Trust will also be there to offer support and practical help.
Practice nurse at Buxted, Fiona Thorpe, said: "We hope to see lots of people to help keep that new year resolution to quit smoking and provide information.
"From this I hope to launch a local Breathe Easy group for Uckfield - this is a patient support and education group linked with the British Lung Foundation for all respiratory disease."
Fiona said she was very grateful to pharmacist Hashem and management at Tesco for supporting the awareness day.
