Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White helps with hospice fund-raising
Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White helped launch a fund-raising campaign for the Friends of East Sussex Hospices at his Maresfield restaurant, Wheelers at The Chequers, at lunch time today.
He is supporting the Friends’ efforts to raise money towards operating costs of nine hospices across Sussex and Kent which care for people from East Sussex.
The idea is to encourage people to host parties under the banner Nosh Chez Nous (Nosh with Us, according to Google Translate), inviting friends to an event of their choice whether for drinks, beans on toast or to a black tie function and then donate funds raised to FESH.
Marco gave the appeal an extra boost when on the spur of the moment he offered to cook for 12 people at the home of the winner of an online auction. He specified a minimum bid of £10,000.
The chairman of FESH Kathy Gore, who is due to become High Sheriff of East Sussex in March, was delighted with the success of today's launch which attracted a lot of media attention.
Among reporters and photographers were camera crews from BBC South East Today, accompanied by presenter Rob Smith, and Meridian.

If you would like to host a Nosh Chez Nous event please contact Patti Whitaker on 01825 890075.
