Market Hall is being relaunched
Uckfield Market Hall is being relaunched with a new effort under way to encourage businesses to use the space.
Alterations and refurbishment works have been carried out and commercial agents Lawson Commercial have been instructed by the owners to offer longer term agreements.
Partner Chris Lawson said recent plans for redevelopment of the area had unsettled traders in the Market Hall, at the Bell Walk precinct, with many leaving for other properties in and around the town.
He added: "The landlords have spent some money on the building improving the insulation and heating and remodelling some of the units. They want to offer longer term agreements so that any business that wants to establish itself in the Market Hall knows it can stay for a significant period of time.
"We are suggesting initially up to five years and those agreements will be capable of being renewed subject to negotiation."
Mr Lawson went on to say plans to remodel this part of Uckfield were no longer going to be implemented and so this was a good opportunity for small businesses to have a small amount of space within a larger unit.
A planning application has been submitted for the unit closest to the car park for change of use to takeaway.
Mr Lawson reckons the best units in the Market Hall are Units 8/9. They are in the centre of the building and have the glazed conservatory to the side with direct doors to the Bell Walk mall.
Units are available from £4,500, plus a service charge for shared facilities, for 250 sq ft.
