Plans to build five apartments in Mill Drove, Uckfield
Plans have been submitted for five apartments to be built as an extension to 2 Mill Drove, Uckfield.
Number 2 Mill Drove is a three-storey building facing Uckfield High Street with the side looking on to Mill Drove. The ground floor is occupied by a hairdressers.
Planning permission was given in May 2002 for a change of use of the upper floors to four flats and in March 2006 permission was given for conversion of space at the rear to a one-bedroom apartment.
The latest plan is to build a four-storey extension to the rear of the building facing Mill Drove.
There would be a studio apartment at basement level with four one-bedroom apartments in the four storeys above.
Documents submitted with the application say: “Clearly, given the location of the site within the development boundary of Uckfield, very close to the town centre shops, services and public transport links, further residential development of the land is acceptable in principle.
“In addition, the proposal involves the provision of small, one-bedroom units well served by local amenities. Given the locational characteristics, and the size of apartments proposed there is no need to provide for on-site car parking.”
