Change of plan for use of property in Hempstead Rise, Uckfield

It looks as if two homes rather that three are likely to be built at premises formerly occupied by MXV Photographic in Hempstead Rise, Uckfield.

Permission was given for three studio homes on the site but a Southern Water sewer has been found beneath the central load-bearing wall and since additional loading cannot be put on the wall it is suggested that the only viable way forward is for two units.

The building was once known as Luckfield Garage and has had a variety of uses over the years. MXV Photographic was a second hand photographic equipment retail outlet with ancillary photographic equipment restoration business.

When MXV went into administration in September 2009 the repair business moved to alternative premises.

"The premises have proved unsuited for commercial purposes due to their 'back street' location and are incongruous within this otherwise wholly residential street.

"The planning application is therefore made to change the use of the premises into a more appropriate residentail use that would sit more easily within its environment."
