Uckfield NCT needs your voting help to get a £6,000 grant
An Uckfield organisation that supports and offers practical advice for parents needs your help to get a £6,000 grant to extend their work.
The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) already runs antenatal and postnatal training courses and different events and groups in the area but could do more if they win the grant.
Claire Morley says the Uckfield, Heathfield and District branch covers a wide area and would like to do more in rural communities.
She moved to Buxted from London before the birth of her two children, William, aged three and a half, and Oliver, aged 16 months.
“I didn’t know anyone in the area and was suddenly isolated. The NCT helped me make friends and meet people with children of a similar age.”
Claire is pictured below with William on an NCT trip to Spring Barn Farm in Lewes. The photograph above was taken on another NCT outing to Monkey Business, Lewes.
Claire said: “With this grant we would be able to run more classes for parents on topics such as first aid and postnatal care.
“We would be able to train a breast feeding and postnatal councillor and have an NCT baby and parent tent at local events and fairs.
“On a day to day basis we would be able to add more group meetings and activities to our monthly diary and train volunteers to run our telephone helpline.”
The grant is being offered by Nat West through their Community Force project where they “work with local communities to support the people, projects and charities making a real difference where you live”. Grants of £6,000 will be awarded according to how many people vote for the different projects and you can help by voting for the NCT here.
Voting involves registering your details then confirming your registration by responding to an email.
