New priest appointed to work in Buxted and Hadlow Down
Buxted and Hadlow Down’s long wait for a new priest is nearly over.
The Rev Evan France will begin work in the parishes at the beginning of September.
He has been Vicar of Westfield, near Hastings, for nearly 24 years.
Mr France is married – his wife is a health visitor – and they have three children.
He will be inducted into the parish on August 31 at St Margaret’s Church, Buxted.
In February UckfieldNews reported that the post had remained unfilled for nearly two years since the departure of the Rev John Challis.
Villagers were becoming concerned at the delay.
